  • Adhaesio – always in contact

    Published: Jun 29, 2015
The single-hand watch specialist MeisterSinger has developed a dual timer that adeptly follows its own aesthetic principles and the confident perception its clients have of time. For years now, MeisterSinger has continually developed timepieces with additional functions and always managed to find ways that embody the essence of its single-hand watches, both technically and in terms of design. The Adhaesio too is a typical MeisterSinger, in both concept and aesthetics. An individual, needle-sharp hour hand points to the current time of day or night at the location of its wearer, accurate to within five minutes. Above the MeisterSinger logo, an arrow points to the second local time on a 24-hour ring, which slowly rotates in a clockwise direction. The carefully selected typography ensures that the display is clearly readable. The time of day and the date form one cohesive unit. The second time zone is clearly visible. Both rings are set slightly deeper than the edge and the center of the dial. Characteristic of MeisterSinger, the hour is therefore visually in the foreground. Powered by a Swiss automatic movement, the ETA 2893. The local time, the second time zone and the date can all be easily adjusted via the crown. 43 millimeters in diameter, its stainless steel case is discreet in size and a mere 10 millimeters high. The Adhaesio connects it wearer with two time zones that are both important to him – or remind him constantly of a place he is attached to. Available this fall

  • Oris ProPilot & Their Calibre 111

    Published: Jun 29, 2015
Oris introduces their inhouse movement - Calibre 111 in the new ProPilot Oris’s movement programme reaches new heights with the introduction of Calibre 111 into the Big Crown ProPilot line Oris is delighted to introduce the Big Crown ProPilot Calibre 111 – a functional pilot’s watch that brings together the company’s landmark in-house developed Calibre 111 movement with its iconic Big Crown ProPilot family. It’s the first time the innovative Calibre 111 has featured elsewhere in the Oris collection and demonstrates the company’s continuing ambitions to revive its watchmaking heritage. The launch of Calibre 111 is a significant moment in Oris history. Last year, the independent Swiss brand began rebuilding its industrial in-house movement programme with Calibre 110. The unveiling of Calibre 111 in 2015 signals the next chapter in Oris’s long watchmaking tradition, which began in 1904. Like its precursor, Calibre 111 is a hand-wound movement with a 10-day power reserve and a patented non-linear power reserve indicator. Oris has added a date function in a window at 9 o’clock, creating a trio of complications not seen in a watch before. The watch’s design takes its cues from the aviation-inspired Big Crown ProPilot collection. It has a multi-piece 44mm case made from satin-finished stainless steel, and a coin-edged bezel inspired by jet engine turbines. The non-linear power reserve indicator on the dial has been designed to look like an airplane fuel gauge. The watch also features a screw-in stainless steel crown and is water-resistant to 10 bar, or 100 metres. It’s important to be able to read a pilot’s watch at a glance, which is why Oris has equipped the Big Crown ProPilot Calibre 111 with an anti-reflective coating on the inside of the sapphire crystal to minimise glare. In addition, the watch features Arabic numerals and hour and minute hands filled with highly legible Super-LumiNova®. The Big Crown ProPilot Calibre 111 has a smooth anthracite dial and applied numerals. It’s also the only timepiece in the Big Crown ProPilot collection to be fitted with a genuine Louisiana crocodile leather strap. The watch is also available with either a textile strap or a stainless steel bracelet. The Big Crown ProPilot Calibre 111 is another sign of Oris’s eagerly anticipated return to movement manufacturing, and serves as another reminder of the company’s belief in making quality, industrially manufactured, high-functioning watches for ‘real people’.

  • NEW Basel Release Salthora

    Published: May 16, 2014
Salthora – time in the window MeisterSinger presents a watch with a jumping hour at the Baselworld 2014 We split days into two lots of twelve hours. The numbers from one to twelve indicate manageable periods of time with which we are familiar from a young age, or which we have established over the course of our life: morning, noon, five o’clock tea and after work time. Our day is ruled according to the position of the hour hand. Most analogue watches, as well as digital ones, do not correspond to this. They show the number of hours alongside the smaller minute and second units. We first have to make the effort to learn that it is the thickness – not the length – of the hand indicator that determines the temporal hierarchy. The new Salthora from MeisterSinger features a round window that, at 12 noon, shows the important thing: the hour. When 60 minutes have passed, the single hand reaches the middle of the window and the next number appears in the window in a flash. The display principle, known as the 'jumping hour', belongs to the traditional specialisms of precision watch-making. Unlike disc watches, where, instead of a hand, a disc inscribed with numbers slowly rotates in a cutaway section of the dial, here, the indicator changes in a flash at the start of the new hour. It was in the 1920s that wristwatches were first equipped with this complex mechanism and showed the hour more prominently than the more minor details such as minutes and seconds. When developing the Salthora, MeisterSinger had particular requirements to fulfil: – The jump should take place precisely on the hour, with a maximum tolerance of ten seconds. – The hour number should not creep or stagger into the window, but leap into the exact center of the window in the blink of an eye. – The force required for this to happen, which is supplied by the same barrel as the rest of the watch movement, could not be permitted to interfere with the smooth running of the movement. MeisterSinger developed a module to be built for the tried-and-tested Swiss automatic ETA-2824-2 movement, which successfully fulfils these requirements. The finely balanced mechanism ensures a punctual and precise jump. The tension for the switching arm of the hour disc is provided over the course of the 60 minutes by a screw attached to the minute wheel; power is therefore withdrawn from the barrel continuously rather than abruptly, and the impact on the movement is only very slight. The rewards for precision work are both visual and acoustic: when the wearer hears a soft but rich tick that tells him a new hour has begun. Visually, the Salthora is a typical MeisterSinger watch: the hour numbers in the window at 12 noon appear in the same fine serif font as the minute markers and – naturally – always double-digit. The Salthora has a stainless steel casing with a diameter of 40 millimeters and comes in a choice of four different dials, including one in deep sapphire blue. The hour window is white for all versions and, especially when contrasted with the dark dials, clearly emphasizes the critical elements of the time.

  • New Toccata collection by Raymond Weil

    Published: Apr 18, 2014
TOCCATA BY RAYMOND WEIL This year, following in the footsteps of the great composers, RAYMOND WEIL presents its new toccata. With this entry collection, the Brand intends to promote its watchmaking know-how among a wider audience, respecting the tradition handed down from generation to generation within this family company. The notes of this toccata ring out among the most beautiful creations of the music-loving watchmaker… RAYMOND WEIL pays homage to the source of its inspiration right from the beginning, by celebrating the one who is behind every great musical work – the composer. Quality finish and sober design, the toccata embodies the Brand’s boldness and creativity. The tempo of this collection reflects the presence of gents and ladies models, which are distinguished by their elegant simplicity and timeless style. Equipped with a quartz movement, toccata combines subtlety accessibility and quality. The beautifully rounded case is available in 29, 39 and 42mm diameters in steel or yellow gold PVD coated steel. The refinement of the case and its pure lines blend harmoniously with the rounded sapphire crystal, the hallmark of this collection. The dials display a simple but precise musical score under the baton of the orchestra’s conductor, which sweeps back and forth incessantly over the indexes or Roman numerals. The model with a black galvanic dial and matching leather strap or steel bracelet exudes a rare elegance. The grand finale of this score is an all steel model with a satin-sunray silver dial, punctuated with a small seconds at 6 o’clock, classic and yet contemporary. With this launch, RAYMOND WEIL is developing the entry price segment of its collection, while maintaining production quality and precision. Musically, this collection is celebrating the artistic spirit behind every creation, whether in watchmaking or in music. RAYMOND WEIL releases its new toccata...

  • Announcing our newest brand: MeisterSinger

    Published: Oct 11, 2013
We are proud to announce our newest brand - MeisterSinger! Come in and see what makes this brand so unique! "But time is relative Today, everything is done to save time: technology is optimised, processes are simplified and communication is accelerated. In our effort to save time, we rush from appointment to appointment - ruled by minutes and seconds. The suggestion that glancing at a watch can be relaxing thus sounds paradoxical. Nevertheless, this is precisely the feeling Meistersinger single-handed watches convey. With these single-handed watches, MeisterSinger takes us back to the origins of the art of watchmaking and shows us how exciting it can be to read time on a minimalist dial and perhaps make time pass more slowly. In this way, we can learn to appreciate how much time there is in every hour."
